I know there is an abundance of experience and information on this site, so I thought I'd ask here first. I have a black 2004 BMW 545i that I mess around with, and while most of the paint looks decent on the car, the hood looks absolutely abysmal. The Florida sun has taken it's toll on it and now I'm trying to revive it as I really would rather not repaint it.
Can anyone give me some ideas/tips/tricks to getting the shine back and restoring the dead black paint? Appreciate any help you all can provide.

It is very possible the clear is failed , how are the other upper surfaces ? At this point I would try some course aggressive compound and work down from there. Try a small corner by hand first. Hope you don't see and black on your rag. Mike |

Thanks Mike. I'll take another look at it in the sun tomorrow and let you know, but I think most of the other top surfaces aren't nearly as bad as the hood. I guess if the clear is toast, I'll see black on my rag, eh?
