Default 454 LS6 cam selection

I am building a 454 LS6 to use in my Chevelle. For a cam I was thinking of using a Comp Cams 294S. Here are the specs: http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=458&sb=2. Good choice or should I look elsewhere? I do want to stick with a solid lifter cam. Not interested in a roller or hydraulic. Thanks for the help

Manifolds or headers?

FWIW, I wouldn't use a COMP flat tappet cam if you held a gun to my head.

Headers, otherwise pretty much stock. Thank you for the information. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated.

What transmission (/converter) and rear gear?

What are your performance goals?

Do you care about idle quality?

M-22 with 220 FIRST, 4.11's, It gets occasional street use, probably never going to see track use. I don't care about idle quality. Thanks again.

Used the Lunati #20202 for two LS6 rebuilds in a row.
IMO a great cam.
