Default Atco Raceway

I have gone to Atco a few times over the past month or so and couldn't help but notice that a large parcel of trees on either side of the track have been cleared out. Finally, I couldn't resist and had to ask the person at the ticket booth if they knew what the deal was; apparently the area is being cleared to plant blueberries.

Does that make sense or do you think the person at the booth was yanking my chain?

It's the perfect soil for blueberries. I wouldn't worry.

Now, if you see new sewer lines being put in alongside the road, THEN I'd worry.

Atco is hurting right now. Attendance is dropping off. Try to get there more to help them out.. Or it may be a future home to new homes.

No National Events except for the NHRA DIV-1 Points meet which is poorly attended. I remember being backed up down Jackson rd. for a 1/2 mile trying to get in for the SuperStock nationals and all the old funny car meets.
NHRA is hurting so alot of tracks follow suit.

Years ago they used to host the IHRA Summer Nationals; saw John Force there when we was running the Olds Cutlass body (Jolly Rancher sponsorship).
I also recall seeing an event; I think it was a Musclecar Nationals type of event; loved that one. Attendance was much better back then and the track wasn't nearly as nice.

I do love to go there and just relax, watch some great racing. I hope it sticks around for a long time but, if people aren't going I don't see how they can afford to continue much longer.
