Have a 67 camaro that I want to put on the 67 corvette side exhaust.Have a 454 big block ready to drop in.The corvette vendors have a 396,427,454 and a 502 direct fit header 1965 to 1974 that directly replace the cast iron manifolds.Does any one know if it will fit in a 67 camaro and if so any other problems I may have.Thank you,Kevin

Sounds like a great idea. I don't know the answer to you question but I hope someone else does. Either way, make sure to post pictures here of the finished product.

I don't think there are any off the shelf headers that will solve your problem other than some "shorty" headers or a standard set of F-body BB headers that are either modified or use an "S" pipe to make the connection to the side exhaust. The mid-year vette side exhaust is a great look on early Camaros and was utilized by both Yenko and Motion.

I recommend you check with the traditional header suppliers (Hooker, for example) to see if their Corvette headers also fit a Camaro. I suspect not, since typically each vehicle platform is unique based on crossemember location, steering gear location, frame contours and front steer vs rear steer (tie rod location) and requires a different header. For example, I used '74 Nova headers on my '74 Chevelle and had to modify 6 of the 8 tubes. Secondly - I think you are going to find that the headers terminate too far rearward in the car to make a nice connection to the side pipe inlet. You will probably end up with a "shorty" headers as mentioned above, and then a small single pipe to make the connection. K

I don't think the Hooker side pipes and headers from a Vette will fit -- the engine sits further back from the cross member on a Vette than on a Camaro. I have had both. The side pipes from a 2nd gen Vette may work as those only have a single exhaust pipe from each manifold. But be aware if you have a HP 427, putting this single pipe on that engine will really limit the performance. I would suggest finding a Vette with the side pipe set up and start taking detailed pictures or park the Vette and Camaro side by side. Back in the day the Baldwin Motion Camaros could be ordered w/side pipes/headers and I think those were Hooker. I am sure the rest of the crew that hangs out here will chime in ... The TAZ

For info, the Motion cars used a regular set of headers and then either an "S" pipe was used or a hole made into the side of the collectors and a custom pipe to connect to the side exhaust. The headers were then capped with a removable plate for easy uncorking at the track or a late night street race.

That sound very much the same as I was using on my Deuce -- they were Hooker side pipes with 4 tubes up front under the rocker panel ... only one was connected for exhaust hookup. I had em' on the car for less than a month -- the connection pipe was only 2" or 2 1/4" in diameter and choked the engine big time. The looked nice, but the perf was not there. The TAZ

A member here had a real nice 68 BB chevelle. If I remember correctly he had a sharp "S" pipe to hook his side pipes up to his header. Like everyone else here said, the header goes to far to the rear and has to double back per say to match-up to the side pipes.

The corvette headers i'm talking about look like a shorty header. They don't look a hole lot bigger than the manifolds thats why I'm thinking it will work.I'm just afraid of spending the almost $800 bucks if they dont work and going through the trouble of sending them back.I know I could use the regular headers but like you said i would need the S-bends and i'm trying to eliminate that.Thank you and keep the ideas coming.Kevin

I am 99% sure corvette headers will not work. Your best bet will be shorty headers for a Camaro that are sold by Summit, Jegs and others and then have an exhaust shop make the connection to the corvette side exhaust. You could also get the exhaust shop to make up a set of larger tube side exhausts than the stock corvette size since you will be hiding the pipes behind the corvette covers and the look will be the same with less restrictions. In general, side exhausts have more HP loss than a conventional exhaust system, but they sure look cool.
