Hello to all,
This is our first post on this forum. Australian Motor Racing Legend, Bob Jane purchased two Camaro ZL-1's from Jim Rathmann, 2 x Indy Winner, from Rathmann Chevrolet in Melbourne, Florida in early 1970. Being (Hugger Orange) #33 & (Dusk Blue) #52. The Camaro's were then road tripped to California and shipped to Australia (a story here). In 1971 & 72 Bob Jane won the ATCC (Australian Touring Car Championship)in the #33 ZL-1. The #52 Camaro ZL-1 was setup as a Drag Car. To preserve the history of Bob Jane's Camaro's and indeed Bob's history in Australian Motor Racing, a new Website is being created to celebrate the Australian racing legend, and his colourful and fascinating history, both in the motorsport and automotive industries. We have also created a Facebook Page, http://www.facebook.com/BobJaneOfficial to share stories and photo's and give fans the opportunity to connect with Bob jane. We will add the history of the two ZL-1's purchased from Jim Rathmann, including the journey these Camaro's took in Australia. As well as the #33's restoration, thank you. ![]()

Simon, Glad you found your way here. As I mentioned to you and Myles, this is the place when it comes to ZL-1s. Please make sure you post or provide a link to Myles' restoration pictures too. These guys will eat that stuff up. As many of the members here know, my heart is really in the vintage road racing (and there are a few others like me too) but I love the drag cars too. My afternoon with Myles and #33 in Melbourne a few years back was really a special event. You should somehow convince Bob to let #33 visit us in the USA sometime. Maybe in 2014 for the 45th anniversary of the ZL-1? Regards,

Thanks Jeff,
Here's the link for the restoration of the ZL-1 #33. We are still to complete the full photo journey through to completion via the Bob Jane Racing Heritage Website. In the meantime here is the link to the Forum Myles had the photo's previously posted to. Cheers. Restoration of the Bob Jane ZL1 #33
