The JL8's are all Stamped QX and are 3.73 ratio the same ratio used on the drum axles for the 302 Z/28.

Also the JL8's have more clutch plates than a standard Z/28 differential and the carrier numbers are different.

Read Untold Secrets by Wayne D. Guinn before you make a purchase.

I have a JL8 but its a Green Sheet, Heavy Duty Service Axle not the production street version. The HD Service Axle uses B-car axles and bearings and is a half an inch narrower than a standard drum flange to flange.

A factory JL8 is wider than a standard drum axle, flange to flange. JL8's are running 14k and Service Axles are heavily hunted down bc as and over the counter item it was added on to any car like the headers and cross rams and was the first race version built and offered over the counter prior to the build of the factory offered JL8 street version.

JL8's were not limited to the Camaro's and could be ordered on Nova's and Chevelle's but I think the ratio was still 3.73.

Hope this helps you when the time comes.

JL8 could be ordered in a lot of different ratios. My 69Z28 is a factory JL8 car and has QW=3.55 rear

Make up welded rear = Clone Axle

I also wanted to correct the following after brushing through my old books.
The HD Service and Green Sheet HD axles came with the 22 plate clutch packs not the street version which was 18 plates.

Also my other correction,, the JL8 can come in any of the Posi Q? ratio selections offered for 1969.

The 67 and 68 did not have the RPO JL8 but the HD Service Axle was offered over the counter back then and many builders were making there own Green Sheet axles or buying the HD kits.

Sorry, its been a while since I've been in these books.
