I picked up a small block chvy motor in a package deal..it is a CE stamped block...
It is cast number 512 I believe...seems like a 1960 or 61 cast date ? I believe L-8-0...or could it be 0-8-7 ?? has to be a 61 block, correct? With a 4" bore?? would that be a 283 ? The motor is not here in my gar yet, so I am going by memory... did they even have CE blocks in 1960 |

Must be a 70 block. They were not stamping engines as CE prior to 1968. Is it a large journal block or small journal?

From CRG
The 3959512 casting was mainly used for warranty / service blocks. It is a 4" bore block, thus could have 302, 327, or 350 applications. |
