I recently picked up this gm prototype intake for a SBC engine. It looks very close to the 67-68 Z28 intake. It has a casting date of December 68. Maybe it was slated for trans am racing due to the open plenum? Any ideas?

You make a good point. Experimental Z/28? The L88/ZL1 intakes had a choke provision even though they were chokeless, well choke disabled.
