Default 1962 Ram Charger pkg Dart

I found this article in the latest issue of Wheels Magazine, no.3 2010. When verified by Galen Govier it was said to be the earliest built Ram Charger pkg. Dart that has been found. The Swedish guy who bought the car got two engines and a solid 4-door as well.

Wow Anders- what a find! Delivered by the dealership on 5-24-62 is very early as the press release was just earlier in that same month. The only thing uglier than my S/S Plymouth is one of these! My Savoy with the Maximum Performance Pkg was shipped on 5-22 from the factory and was only the 8th made and the 1st with a manual tranny. This fellow can also get a Chrysler Motors Corporation Car Record from the Chrysler Historical Society which will further document his car and all of its options.

Thanks!

Sam, ugly or not, I like these cars ! I even have a 1964 Belvedere project of my own.
Here are some more pics from the same issue of Wheels Magazine.

Anders - don't get me wrong - they are ugly but I LOVE these beasts. These cars were a rude wake up call to the other auto makers. Fun cars to be sure with great street/strip credentials. The performance does the talking definitely not the looks of the car !!

Yesterday, I spoke to Darrell Davis, a retired Chrysler Exec., who convinced Chrysler that he should take all records associated with the early Max Wedge and Race Hemis. He has a very nice collection himself and has been a big help with the research on my '62 Super Stock Plymouth. His books are very informative in helping to ID, authenticate, and educate on all things Max Wedge and Race Hemi for Dodge and Plymouth.

I showed him the Swedish magazine article and he had this to say:

"Hello Sam:
I knew Jack FiveaIsh who owned Hill Kelly Dodge in Pensacola. I believe that his daughter still runs it and still owns it. I had heard about this car but didn't have any information on it. I looked and haven't shipped any book to Sweeden although Galen may have sold one to him.
By my records the first Dodge Ram Charger equipped car was shipped on May 8th, then two were shipped on May 9th, two on May 10th and four on the 11th. That would make 9 shipped before the 14th which was a Monday. Five were shipped on that day so I would guess that it is between number ten and fourteen depending on its line position.
Best regards,
Darrell
"

Sam, I feel the same way as you about these cars so I understand fully.

I did not believe it would be the very first car built, that´s why I wrote the way I did initially. I will try to contact the Swedish owner and inform him of what Darrell have told you.

Sam, I contacted Jonny (the current owner) half an hour ago and he says that he has spoken to Darrell Davis over the phone about his car. Jonny believed that Darrell said it was the 4:th car built, but maybe he said the 14:th ?
Jonny has tried to buy Darrells books on the ebay store, but since we don´t have the same type of Zip-codes etc. it has not worked out. I would probably want to buy one or two of those books myself, so maybe you could help us out here Sam, if we run into trouble ?
