Default Made a dolly for early Camaro..thought I'd share

Hey guys...and gals..hehe.....after looking at other dollys that people have made for thier early Camaros, I came up with this setup. I really like it because it can be mounted just on the front if the subframe is removed...or just in the rear if the rear is removed..or both parts can be used together with the subframe and rear removed. I also used all of the factory monuting locations because I know the next car I am going to do is a convertible and I want to make sure all the factory gaps are correct when I put the car together....and best of all, I can hang it on the wall and it is out of the way when I do not need it.I did make a bar that has 2 'u' type brackets that go from the front to the back and slip over the horizontal bars to give support to the whole unit when it is being rolled. The only other thing I am going to do is to add a pull handle in the front...that will make it easier to pull when I am alone.

Feel free to copy it..or if anyone makes it better let me know, just in case I make another. It is a work in progress...

..but if anyone decides to market it...do not forget me if you get rich, ok!! hahaha

In the front, I made 2 round hole saw holes on the bottom side of the large diameter sq. tubing and 2 smaller 5/8" holes in the top side at the correct width as the factory subframe mount locations. I then bolted thru into the front subframe monuts using factory bushings and bolts. I welded the 2 bars that extend to the rear at the correct distance apart so I could bolt thru the bars into the rear factory subframe mount locations also. I welded sleeves in the bars so they wont crush. I also used factory bushings and bolts in the rear mounts.

In the rear of the car I just made 2 plates with the same bolt hole dimensions as the bottom shock plates. The top plate has the extra hole in the center for the tab that is on the leaf spring. I just sandwiched the 2 plates together with bolts.

I will take a few pics now that it is attached to the car as soon as I dig out of the snowstorm here !!!!

At first my front dolly only had the front portion...but because I wanted the car higher off the ground than stock, I made my dolly taller. And then I was scared it would fall over if the wheels got stuck for whatever reason. Or worse yet, it might damage the carriage bolts or the body with too much stress at the mounting points. So I added the rear braces as an afterthought....

but, I wish i would have seen your setup sooner...seems like a 1 hour build...mine took me all day...and more $$$$ I'm sure...now those we could market !!! haha Did you apply for a patent on those mounts??? hehe

Now I know for the next time...haha...Thanks

I connected the front casters to the back with 4X6's and as a bonus if I put bunk carpet on the wood I can put my boat on it.
