Hi all, this is my first post.
![]() I am looking for info on this dealer. My father's 68 caprice is from this dealer according to the emblem on the trunk lid. We moved from Maine in the late 70's and was wondering if this dealer was still around and if there was any info out there about it. I have some other questions to ask and will do so once I find the correct forum to post them under. Thanks, Robb |

Welcome to the site. Bean and Conquest closed within the last 10 years, but I don't know the exact year. The address was 40 Summer Street, down by the river. I have several 68 Chevy window stickers from that dealership. Please send me an email a [email protected] I have some questions about your Caprice.

Hi Steve,
I'll have to look it up online. I will be heading back to Maine hopefully this fall to see my old house. I'm going to look for an old junkyard my father used to go to for parts for the caprice. It had a unique 68 in it. It was the only one in the Bangor area that had T83 parts. And this was in the 70's! i guess its a rare optoion? i was recently told that another yard, lapointe's is still in business. Can anyone confirm that? My father says there were tons of 68's in that yard. Robb |

To add to Steve's note above, a bit o' Goggling resulted in the below couple of leads...long shots but may be worth trying?.
1) Although not a new car dealer anymore Bean and Conquest appears to still be operating as an automobile wholesaler down the road from the original location.. Bean & Conquest Wholesale 61 Summer St Bangor, ME 04401-6445 Phone: (207) 262-6000 2) The original Bean and Conquest's phone # (207) 945-9401 is still alive and in use by another Chevy dealer.. Maybe they took over the dealer code...and have old paperwork?. Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac Of Bangor 293 Hogan Rd Bangor, ME , 04401 PH: (207) 945-9401 | FX: (207) 945-0164 Good luck!. ![]() ~ Pete

Robb,
There WERE tons of 68's in LaPointes, but they crushed out pretty much everything within the last few years. My brother and I went exploring the property last summer (my family lives outside Auburn/Lewiston. The only good stuff we found were a few Chevelles and Novas, a 68 Impala vert and a 67 Impala coupe. Everything else was 80s junk and about 90 rusty front clips/trunklids from 60s Impala/Chevelle/Camaros. I guess that's all they thought was worth saving, but we could never find any of the property owners.. What's the name of the place that had the T83 68? I think they made about 14,000 T83 cars in 68, though the number that still exist today makes that seem impossible. 69 cars with that option seem much more plentiful. There is a good yard down by Auburn/Lewiston about 10 minutes from my folks, with lots of old stuff, proabably 30 65-70 big cars, and then a bunch of Chevelles. Steve

My father doesn't recall the name of the place but remembers that it had a large inventory of military surplus vehicles. There was a section that was full of that stuff and another that had the cars. In fact, my father still has pictures of the yard somewhere. If I am remembering my father's photo right, the car that had T83 looked just like your picture except that it had rally wheels, I think with wheel covers? It was a vert for sure. My father says the place was not to far north of Bangor. He used to visit these places weekly as they were getting stuff in. I'm going to ask my father is he still has any of the manuals he grabbed from those cars. He might have the manual to the T83 car.
Does the junkyard close to you have any T83 cars? Robb |

Ahh okay I know that place. It's about 20 minutes north of Bangor. We also explored that place a little but we didn't have a lot of time that day. I can't remember the name of it, but it is in a town called LaGrange. The guy used to collect all the old military vehicles from one of the bases up there, as well as random old cars. There are rows of 50s Chevy air force vehicles, and all kinds of neat stuff. The property owner passed away about 10-15 years ago and nothing has been done with the property since. I am going to try to get back there after the leaves fall. I didn't see that 68 you speak of, but I also didn't go very far in.. That would be a cool car, especially as an Impala convertible.
Here is a picture of my dad's 68 vert: ![]() The yard by me is called Ayottes. They have one T83 car, a 69 Caprice, but the front clip was sold about a year ago. Let me know if you are looking for any 68 stuff. We have a lot of parts. Where in NY are you located? Steve

Wow, that car looks very similar to the one that was in the yard. My father almost bought the hood from the car because he wanted one with that grill in it. I'm looking for the pictures of it now. The engine and trans was in the car but my father had no space for another 427 engine, though he could have used the muncie. My father says your descriptions of the place are accurate. You have to go a ways back to find the stuff.
I'm over by Plattsburgh. My father is currently staying in Ohioville this month. BTW, Can you tell me how many HD 3spds were ordered in 68? Robb |

Cool, I am in Highland, about 3 miles from Ohioville. I hope you can find those pictures! The car you describe would be quite a sight to see. Chevrolet built 365 B bodies with RPO M13 heavy duty 3 speed. Is that what your Caprice has, 427 with a 3 speed?? (wow!)

I have found some images of the yard but they are on slides and really small negatives! Do you know how I can blow them up? Yes, my caprice is a 427 with the M13 3spd. Do you know what my rear axle code means? It is code DM. I need to get the car out of storage at some point and take some pictures of it. It was put in storage when we moved to NY in the 70's.
