Default 1970 chevelle heater box seperator, which one ?

i recently looked at both my chevelles under the dash and noticed they both had a different heat box seperator.

1-- is a square box with slots (bench seat car)
2-- is a larger unit with curved vent exits (console car)

are these boxes correct for there application?
or is one been changed at one time?

see photo (photos came out blurry because i took pictures in the dark)

Those are both correct for the cars you stated they are in.
One directs the air around the console, the other doesn't,because it doesn't have a console.
That console duct can be a challenging piece to find.

Looks correct. The console piece blows the air away from the console, and the non-console piece blows it down and to the sides/foot area.
