iam painting my 70 ss conv and was wondering how the rear stripes were factory painted at the conv top rear area...were they straight under the chrome mldg or curved like vinyl top cars were?? also i have been told that the orig ss center caps are pop -ons not bolted ??

the ss center caps could be either way, pop-on or bolted.

What's the cowl tag asssembly date & plant it was assembled at?
They installed bolt on SS center caps on the early assemblies up to around October 24th,1969.Sometime soon after they went to the clip on design. My car was assembled on Oct.24th and had the bolt on originally. In general,they should be straight under the chrome mldg.,but with 7 plants assembling the 1970 Chevelle,some may have practiced different painting techniques. |
