Default 69 Nova paint question

A friend is getting ready to paint his Fathom Green Nova SS. The car has the lower rocker trim. His question were the rockers blacked out on this color? I know that certain Camaro colors did not recieve blackout. Did this also apply to Novas? Thanks in advance...BKH

If the Nova had the rocker trim (2 pieces) it would be blacked out. Here is the 69 brochure that shows it.

I don't believe the fathom green received the black-out treatment, just the lighter colors.

Thanks marlin . Not that anyone would start laying paint after something I blurted out, but.... I don't want an angry mob storming my castle with flaming torches and battering rams....

Thats what I thought...I didn't think it got it. The Garnet red one we are doing had it. But I didn't think the dark color would..BKH

Darker colors like dusk blue, fathom green, black....did not get the black paint accent. Look at the photos of BBB's 69 for reference.

That would also be consistant with the 69 Camaro

I think the inner door frame blackout that you reference is not technically 'black-out' treatment. I believe the inner door frames on the '69 Novas were actually just painted to match the interior color. So, if you had a black interior, then it would be black-out, but if you had a blue interior on a white Nova then the inner door frames would be blue.

Clear as mud?

Marlin, that is how my 69 is. The only thing that I didn't research yet is I think my 69 had the lower rocker moldings only and it was blacked out above. The car had been repainted but under the sill plate it's black. It also has the B 2 code? I think you had metioned that that was a code for the exterior options? It has the chrome around the windows and the rear panel molding and the rocker moldings. Plus, it has a white painted top and glacier blue bottom. The rocker moldings are taken off in this picture.
