Default Cragar SS rim repair

I recently came across a "vintage" set of Cragar SS mags, which definitely need to be rechromed. I'll probably hire out a local place here to do it, and from what I hear, they do good work.

Here's the problem . . .

One of the rims is damaged around the area where the center cap attaches. The cap still attaches fine, but it looks like someone took a hammer and chipped off a section right where it meets. The cap almost covers the chipped area around the side, but If I'm going to go through the trouble of rechroming them, I want to fix it right.

How would I go about repairing it? Sorry I don't have photos.
