It is often said that the best part of a car is its story. This awesome display was a full room of stories.
One that comes to mind was a very nice silver '69 Z28, the owner bought it at age 16 with a loan from his parents. He made payments with a $3.75 and hour job at KFC after school. Purchase price, $1,000. Also a '66 Shelby GT350 Mustang with original paint, 440 6 Pack Cuda, an L78 396 '65 Corvette, and many other really cool hot cars of the day. There were a few ladies in the group also ![]() Late on Sunday I had conversation with Vicky Ashton about the success of the display, she said the turnout far exceeded their expectations with about 50 cars. I wish I'd taken more pix, this one has Jeff Helms HS car right up front. |
