Can NCRS services sometimes be incorrect or can early Chevrolet book keeping have flaws?

The reason is, I ran a report through NCRS services and it can back that my car was sold from a different dealer then what my cars was purchased from. My car, a 1967 Camaro SS/RS 396, was purchased from Dana Chevrolet in 1967 and comes with the original Protect-O-plate from Dana Chevrolet. The NCRS came back that my car was delivered to a different Chevy Dealership that was within 5 miles from Dana Chevrolet. I read somewhere that someone else also had a Dana car with a POP and their NCRS came back different from a Dana delivery.
I was told by someone that it was common that Chevy would move cars around from dealer to dealer in a general area to balance the model cars when needed. Dana Chevrolet sold only the harder to find Hi performance cars, so was it possible that they got cars pulled from other Dealers that were close by.

How accurate as GM’s 1960’ book keeping? What do you think?

Sounds like a Dealer trade between the 2...Very common back then,and still done today.
My 2012 was.

The Fathom Blue LS6 convert that was in Texas is a prime example of that and killed it for a lot of people that were interested in the car as they thought something was amiss. Upon researching the car we found the selling dealer was across the river but in another state but only about 10 miles away so it was totally legit.

Same here. Tin soldier COPO was purchased from queen city Chevrolet, but ncrs reported a different dealer in another state. Probably a dealer trade as Ron wanted a black th400copo and got a red 4 speed one instead.

What dealer was your car originally delivered to?

It was originally delivered to code 6 zone 20 - Angelus Chevrolet in L.A. I think Dana Chevrolet is code 5 zone 20

the pop should tell you who sold the car.

As example, the Yenkos have NCRS reports showing shipment to Yenko Chevrolet, but as documented on this site very many of those cars were originally sold from other dealerships.

Yes, for example I received the following information on my pace car:

Zone 11 Dealer 372 and list dealer as Max Meyers Motors in Middlebury , IN. The information I had gotten prior from speaking to original owners son was they purchased it at McManus Chevrolet Chicago, Il.

I went to the NCRS data base and plugged the zone and dealer # and showed McManus Chevy, Chicago, IL in 1970. It was later confirmed via a window sticker that my car was sold at McManus Chevrolet.

In my opinion their records are not complete, especially with dealer name and address. I've gotten a few back with just zone and dealer#, but its a start and a piece of the puzzle.

i have a yenko and mine came back --&gt; from yenko so which ones are we talking about that didnt originate from yenko ???
