Would like to run a 10.5" clutch setup in the '69 with the BB, I have all the parts except the flywheel. Somebody needed the 621 housing more than me, so I traded him for a nice 403. Anyone see any issues with this combo? I thought the L88 vettes used a 10.5" setup.....

Marlin,
L88's did use a 10.5 flywheel. It is still available from GM # 14085720. Only weighs 15lbs. Grady [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/ ![]() |

Awesome, thanks for the part number! Didn't the '69 Z's also use a 10.5"?

----Marlin,,,You will love the light flywheel, especially if the car has a healthy gear. I did this swap to several 425 and 435hp Corvettes and it absolutely woke them up......Bill S

If you wanna see something really neat, check out rare dual-disc clutch that, I believe, was a one-year-only option in 1969. I've always been surprised that it wasn't more popular and didn't really take off. Anybody here ever fool around with one? Please don't confuse this with the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutchs either because they are two entirely different animals.

The dealer told me that I could have ordered a dual disc clutch in the Chevelle for about $96 CDN back in the day. That would probably be over $1000 in today's money, a lot of money for the average guy. Although I never had clutch problems in close to 200K miles of driving, in hind sight, it might have been good insurance. Exploding clutches are nasty. They were said to be bullet proof, but that's just talk. "They" say a lot of stuff.

RPO MA6. Apparently none ever put in a Camaro from the factory. Was used in select big block Corvettes from Feb 1969 through 1971, mostly M22 equipped L-88 and LS-6 cars if memory serves. More here: MA6 Clutches My uncle has one in his W-31 Olds; very light pedal, smooth and fast. I have a complete setup for my COPO car to put behind my Jenkins motor, but it's still on the shelf.
