Default hurst dual gate

anyone familiar with the hurst dual gate shifter?

trying to understand if the shifter could be easily swapped out with a longer, curved type that could work well with a bench seat car (similar to the deuce setup)

Adam,

Hey Man! - I have a HURST DualGate in my Chevelle. Bad timing as I am getting ready to leave for vacation now - but would be willing to take some pictures for you when I get back if your interested?
From memory, like anything it "IS POSSIBLE..." but, depending on how much work you are willing to do to do to make it possible.
P.S. Adam, you know in my book you still have a bad a** Corvette!!! Love that White w/black stripe. And THANKS for the help getting "THE signature".

After reviewing the shifter - it appears as though the handle could rather easily be changed out or modified. There is simply a pressed in pin (nearest carpet) that would need to be removed in order to get the handle out.

And looking from the passenger side:

I included this last picture to show the size of the console.

Hope this helps.

Kent

Not sure this applies, but Hurst auto sticks like were used in the Yenko deuces were sometimes referred to as dual gate shifters, as you could either put it in the drive position and it would shift automatic, or follow the shift pattern on the ball and shift it manually. Don called them dual gates in his deuce ads and the above explaination is what Marlin and I decided on as no actual dual gates like found in Camaros, or Chevelles have been found in a deuce. That application would be more logical, and appropriate I would think for a bench seat nova.
The actual Hurst give away car in the ad for auto stick shifters was a Nova.
