Default ODO Reset on Full 100% Restorations ????

When 100% Full Restorations are done, do most owners/shops have the ODO reset to ZERO Or Left at the Milage before car was restored ????

What practice is more common than the alternative ??

20 years ago it was common practice to return the odometer to zero but I think today most all restorers leave them as original mileage, low or high. I personally do not like it when I see an odometer that reads near zero. If you are inquiring about your Camaro, I would certainly leave it as current original mileage.

I agree with Rick, but it is really a personal preference.

I did it on the first car I took the body off the frame, but the several after that, no. Kind of regret doing it on that one, a '66 malibu 327.

I left the milage the same on two I've done and believe that to be the norm on restored original vehicles.

I look at it a llittle different....if a car goes through a complete rotisserie resto, nothing has been left untouched/unrestored, so original mileage really doesn't matter. Just my opinion...but like others have stated, it's personal preference.

I have always retained the odo mileage as found, even if the speedo is rebuilt. Only exception was a car that came to me with a repro speedo that the odo failed at 00002.0 miles.

Wow I am Not a resto guy just an old drag racer , but have one that I’d probably restore completely some day. This question never even crossed my mind before reading it here , but it is really an interesting question. I mean theoretically you are returning the car to AS showroom NEW condition. So i feel like maybe you’d return it to how it would be in the showroom maybe 40 50 test drive miles.

My car has 15 k on it so it’s pretty low so it’s really a question I guess I’d have to ponder. I’d probably leave it but if it wasn’t so low IdK what I’d do

I would leave the odometer untouched with it's original miles. I think that adds to the history of the car.

Plus my state DMV still follows the federal odometer fraud act regardless of vehicle age. Some states are exempt from that act with vehicles this old.

Regardless I still like showing the true miles on the car from factory built.
