I used Duracool instead of 134 and R12 for years. Worked much better than 134, and was compatible with all systems.

Went to Deepfreeze website with info and product to order. Interesting read. If their 12A is really compatible and works like R12, it is a very economical alternative.

I think it takes 3.5 lbs. from full evacuation. I have a 20lb. cylinder. From the time I sold my '68 an older gentlemen in 2001 and bought it back from him several years ago he had converted it to 134A and it is definitely not as efficient.

I need to contact him to see if he only evacuated and recharged. IF that is all he did I will likely put the R-12 back in it since I have it. The prices for it are crazy...
