They used to rig the cars with devices like this piece. I remember once they used black painted cardboard and substituted it for the carb base plate gaskets. I remember that too....wasn't that sponsored by Chrysler/Plymouth? Seems to me that it went the way of the dinosaurs around the time they started using computers in the cars.
