I restore my accelerator rod and bracket in "grey phosphate" but dip the smog pulley in semi gloss black laquer. I think I have only seen 1-2 original pulleys done in phosphate before and Chris W had told me they are normally painted. I do sometimes see the water pump pulley phosphated however. The LS-5 I just sold had one.
