In this page from
chevelles dot com a Chevy Punch article has a copy of a 1965 brochure (for 1966) that only lists the 396 available in the SS. It is common knowledge that this motor also came in the ElCamino as it did in 1967 also. The SS396 ElCamino did not appear until 1968.
