Re: 68 Hemi Roadrunner 14,914 actual mile 4 speed
Colin:
Thanks for the kind words on my Roadrunner. You asked about the ownership history over the last two years.
Mark Young, who is a dear friend of mine, has never owned, had an interest, or sold this time capsule Roadrunner. However, due to our friendship, Mark is putting the Roadrunner on his web site for me to help me market it.
I sold the car at BJ 2008. After some time had passed after the auction, the buyer who is a dealer and recognized the value of the car, decided that he wanted to change his product mix to more corvettes and less muscle. The buyer had no qualms about the car, but he made a business decision so he could rebalance his inventory. He called me and asked me if I would like to repurchase the car. We made a deal and thus I am the owner again. I originally purchased the car from Edward Lis, who is a dealer, originally at the Mecum St. Charles event in 2006.
My goal was to take it to the Mopar Nationals, Chrysler Carlisle, etc. With it's rare originality I was confident it would be a show winner which would help the value and I would have a lot of fun in the process. Unfortunately, I have never made it to either event and will not be able to this year as well.
I took the car to Mecum 2 weeks ago, but it did not meet my reserve and thus it remained unsold. Dana Mecum did an awesome job promoting the Indy auction, location and venue was the best I have seen, and the selection of great cars was second to none. I cannot say enough kind words about Dana and the way he promotes and manages his auctions. Unfortunately, commencements, economy, or ? kept away many of the normal buyers and collectors and with a huge selection of great cars not all cars sold. I was surprised with the great cars there that I did not see you there. I talked with many other sellers and all agreed, regardless of the outcome of their car, that Dana had done everything humanly possible and then some to have a great auction. In any event, we all had a great time as all carguys should at such a major event as the Indy auction was.
I do understand your point and agree that the car is a one owner car with the exception of some dealer activity, including my own dealer activity, over the last 2 years. This is the first car that I have sold on Ebay and it is a learning experience for me.
What I can say is that this example is the real deal. I looked for a hemi for over three years with Galen's help. This is the first one that he actually told me I should buy in that period. That was enough for me.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
Dave
