Re: I need some '69 Chevelle SS articles.
Sam,
I'd be very interested to see what you compile over time. I have two 69 Super Sports from the Baltimore factory, one is original (69 SS 325hp/4sp), the other is a non-numbers convertible.
I have been comparing what I have found on my 69 (unrestored) to other originals that I have been able to find. So far, I have found certain fasteners that don't match what you'd normally find on 69 Chevelles from other factories; and other mistakes with the car. Notably, I have found on unrestored 69 Baltimore cars that the factory put a gray sealer around the rear tail panel moulding nylon fasteners, on the inside of the trunk. I had originally thought that a previous owner did this, but have seen two low mileage Baltimore cars that had the same thing (one is a COPO). I have yet to see this on any other 69's from other assembly plants. This may have been an effort to stop trunk leaks which in my experience have come from a poor seal between the qtr panel extension and the qtr itself.
Also, my car seems to have a poorly aligned front right fender, in that it bulges out. I've also seen this on many 69 Chevelles. I know that it can be fixed by raising the right core support mount, but I don't want to break the bolts and current alignment of the bumper and inner fender, so I'll leave it for historical reasons.
Hope this is some of the info you are looking for. I can follow up with you on other details if you like.
Good luck.
Phil Woj.
