Re: 454s?
Based on info provided by Don Swiatek, Nickey's Hi-Performance Manager, from 1966 until 1977, (Don started with Nickey right out of high in 1952.)there were more produced.
He claims that Nova Conversions were second in Volume only to Camaro Conversions.
No formal vin lists have been found. Paper work, just like that of any other dealership did exist. It was most likely maintained by Al Seelig, Vice President of Nickey.
Al was involved in all facets of the Nickey Operation, but his main focus was on the fixed operations side of Nickey.
1) Service Dept.
2) Parts Dept.
3) Body Shop (Nickey even had a fiberglass specialist on hand.)
4) Hi-Performance Dept. (Conversions)
5) Speed Shop(It was separate from the "regular" parts dept.)
6) Used Car reconditioning center. (There were 4 locations).
7) Racing Program.
The managers/employees of all the above departments reported directly to Al. Al in turn reported to Jack and Ed Stephani, the Owners of Nickey.
Most of the Conversion paperwork would have been signed off by Don or Al.
