Hey Charlie......Might be a good investment to get a transfer switching station. Living FL. I went through the hurricanes from 2004 and being without a Well for a week was unbearable, I swore I would never go through that again. I have a 6000 watt generator thats not powerful enough to run central A/C, so I installed a window unit for the bedroom and can switch to whatever curcuits I need at the time so If I need water I can switch it to the well and if I want to run the fridge I can do that without overloading the generator. etc. The stations are sold at LOWES for around $500 and well worth it.And you can do all this right inside your Home or Garage whichever you prefer. The trick is to map out all of your existing circuits at your fuse panel and figure all of your wattages for the size of your Generator. A licensed electrician is a must though.
