I've personally never found much benefit in fat plug gaps, all they do is work the rest of the ignition components that much harder. I used a Crane Xr-1 conversion on my 496, and with Autolite plugs gapped at .035", it never missed a beat on the dyno.

If anything, with compression you might need to tighten the gap a tad...or help cheat your power up/down as needed...we've played around with gaps a little in our Camaro, and @ 12.2:1 I wanna say we're ~32? [Lemme check my notebook before anyone takes that as the Gospel! ]

But as someone above said, switching from our coveted AC plugs to NGK's cleared up a big end stumble, and showed power on the dyno, and we've never looked backed!
