Default Re: Karen Goes to Iowa...

Read this online and noticed the quote by Edwards in another article...The corporations, he said, will not negotiate their power away. “They’ll give their power away when we take it away.”

Seems to me we have gone to war to prevent leaders from doing things like he prescribes

Re read Naismiths Megatrends. When corporations consolidate nationally, and globally as they have been, they tend to become THE primary influence in how government policy is structured. Therefore giving corporations(think big oil)more influence over events, than governments can control. Leaving you as a citizen basiclly powerless to do anything.
When ever the populace feels powerless to effect change,it becomes angry. (Think Bolshevic revolution.)The average wage earner who has seen his income drop, and inflation rise appx 4% this year is getting angry. That's what Edwards is addressing. Free market capitalism is a wonderful thing, but even Teddy Rooseveldt knew that without addressing the social consequenses of unbridled robber barons eventually grievences real, or percieved would have violent consequences.
This is an impartial statement. If I have crossed the moderators line, I apologize, and feel free to delete it.
Tom, I'll pm my nbrs.

Hillary was next door in Eldridge this morning. Weather is much better today. I had to juggle my priorities, and hanging a qtr on bbbenny's car won out. Sorry Hil.
