Default Iraq War Vet Project

I am involved in a project the 1st Gen Camaro Club of Phoenix is sponsering. Foster was a Corporal in the USMC and was injured by a IED, one of his comrades was killed in the explosion and the barrel of the 50 Cal swung around during the incident and hit Foster in the back. He was told he would never walk again. He is walking but can't do much more than help clean parts and has provided some money to get his 68 Camaro restored. Numerous individuals from the 1st Gen Camaro Club and others have or will be donating time, parts, or money to help restore his car. Foster doesn't know anything about this, he has paid what he had and figures this to be a years long project. He is soon going into have more surgery done back east and while he is gone we plan to complete his car so it will be done when he returns. I plan to provide time working on the car and throwing in a few parts. I will get a copy of the parts list and I'm thinking some of you might have a few of the parts needed for the project. Or if you want to contribute a few bucks below is the address and the phone numbers of the president and vice president of the Camaro Club here in Phoenix. If there is any interest I can keep everyone posted on the progress of the car.

thanks,

Dave

TO ALL PARTIES INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE IRAQ WAR VETERAN 1968 CAMARO PROJECT:

Thanks so much for the overwhelming interest so far. We have heard from so many individuals that want to get involved---members of the Cactus GTO club, several veterans of Vietnam and other wars, and car enthusiasts from around the state. This is a great project that will show this young disabled veteran, how grateful we are to him for his service. And Corporal Foster is a typical enthusiast, with gear oil in his veins.

Attached are some pics of the car. It has already been taken to the sanblaster and is now ready for the body work phase of the project. Some of the inital funds to get the ball rolling were contributed by Corporal Foster himself. However, the car is still lacking many vital parts, as it is only a rolling shell. The motor, transmission, suspension overhaul, etc., will still need to be acquired. This is where we step in.

The #1 question I'm getting is, "Where can we send a contribution ?"

Please make all checks out to our club and mail to:

FIRST GENERATION CAMAROS OF ARIZONA

5063 E. DELTA AVE.

MESA, AZ 85206

Please include your name, address and phone number if not on the check already, as we are keeping the "contributors list" that will go along with the car.

Parts are also gladly accepted and what is not used, will be returned to the contributor.

Thus far, we have had $750 contributed in financial support, and many have offered up various parts. We are still compiling our list, and our Saturday night meeting will give us a good plan of attack for this project. Hope to see you there.
