Dan.. I built the house back when I was stupid enough to take on a project like that. My father, the architect, didn't know the amount of time I would be spending in the garage, 20 years later. This house is an engineering nightmare. Those 2 poles, hold up virtually the entire house. I certainly tossed around the idea of a steel beam, but so far it hasn't happened.
Perhaps I could have all my mid-west friends over for a weekend, and we can tackle the steel beam job
In the mean time, I'll take some exterior pictures. even if it is 20 degs out there
