Mark, yes that is about it.. The main thing is the Police report. That way the vehicle can be entered into the NCIC computer system and if the plates or vin are run by a Police agency it will show a hit that its stolen.. This will protect you also if it is used in the commission of a crime. If it was rusted and older my guess would be that some "crackhead" stole it and probably passed it off for drugs. It will probably be even more of a "piece of crap" when it is recovered. Suburbans and a lot of older GM products were very easy to steal by "peeling" the ignition column. If you should recover it on your own or find it ditched somehwere make sure to notify the Police agency that originally took the report so they can remove it from the computer as stolen.
