Before I retired I was a Plant Engineering Manager.I had a contractor mowing a vacant field that the Company owned and there was a fire hydrant to mow around, well he bumped it and broke it off at the main and it shut water down to the Facility that had 300 + employees working there! Well It became my job really fast to get water flowing again.I contacted the City Of Houston Water Works and talked to a guy.He told me I needed to talk to a JOE BLOW! I got a little excited because I thought he was playing games and I had no time for any games right then! he assured me I needed to contact JOE BLOW and gave me his extension #.I called it and was very reluctant to ask for JOE BLOW but when the lady answered the phone I asked to speak to MR BLOW! She asked me if I would like to hold because Joe was on another line and would be finished in a minute.I told her yes I would like to hold and damn near fell out of my chair! Well a few minutes later a voice said this is MR BLOW! I explained my situation and within 1 hour repairs were under way and complted within 2 hours and water was flowing again.I would have never guessed that there was actually a person named JOE BLOW! But rest assured he was a Manager at the City of Houston Water Works Division and may even still be there! And I swear this is 100% true!I had about ten Management people in my ofice applying pressure on me to get the problem fixed and when they heard the conversation they could not believe it.But when it was all over it was regularly talked about for weeks that there was actually a REAL LIFE JOE BLOW!
