During the depression, when no one had a job, the CCC and a couple of other govermental groups were put together to help try to put the country back on its feet. In the area where I grew up, a lot of the bridges and county buildings were put together during this time. A lot of stone work, like the cemetary wall in Independence, Ks that probably stretches for 2 miles, is still there and standing. A lot of repair work/ replacement of these structures is needed and the counties are having to heap a large burden of taxes onto the people that actually pay their taxes. How about we get some of these people that can't find a job, put a shovel in their hand and get them to break a sweat! It would be amazing what could be done if they actually had to work for the money they get (those that are physically able to work).
