Phil's version of this story is pretty much the same that I heard although I think as I posted before that the ditch car , which came from the Maquoketa area, and this car, which actually was not in a ditch, but near some buildings, and a fence are two different cars. Neither are the Hult car, but one could be a Friedly car to the best of my information.
I believe that the recovered Maquoketa car parts went to Marion. I have talked to previous owners of it, and it sat just East of town along a fence row, kinda in a ditch for quite a while until it was discovered, and bought.
The other car Phil talks about is second hand info. Nothing I could coroborate. I did have a conversation with the gentleman who passed on the info initially a couple of weeks ago, and I did ask what ever happened to the car. He said he had gone to see about it, and the owner had recently crushed it.
The rumor on this car was that the tags had gone to Marion.
I think Phil is trying to ascertain if the tags did somehow find their way to someone in Marion, and may be on a rebody.
There was a time when there was a thought of pulling that car out of there, and challenging the authenticity of any other one with that vin nbr, as it appeared that this was in fact THE correct car. It apparently never happened, and now the report is that it's been crushed pretty much because the guy got tired of walkin around it.
Phil, I don't think anyone is trying to cover anything up on this car. I kinda think it may have been more trouble than was worth to those considering it at the time.
Tommy, there was nothing in Phil's post aimed at you. The ebay smuck was a generalization that was knida misinterpreted. Perhaps he could have called them lost souls who were mislead.
