Bob Gagliano got back home from vacation Sunday evening and at my request sent an email to the 1st guy that responded to my ad last week. Bob sent me this copy of that email last night:
My old 62 is stunning still. It took me 7 years to complete. I bought the car out of Colorado as a 409 car thru a friend of mine , Tom Dietz. I bought it without an engine. I received pictures of the car which showed a cross rammed 409 in it with a 4 speed. Unfortunately the motor didn't come with the car ! It was painted yellow and had an Impala trunk lid on it ! It looked weird with 6 tail lights. I took the car off the frame and went about restoring it over the next 7 years. Body and paint was by Performance Restorations in Mundelein Illinois. It is lacquer with a urethane clear coat. The rest of the car was assembled by JC Classics out of Kenosha Wisconsin. Unfortunately there was no paperwork with the car. Paperwork on a 409 is nearly unheard of, however I believe it was a true 09 car . The person I bought it thru is a die hard 09 and 62 guy. In the late 80's people were a lot less crooked ! Steve has priced that car very fairly..low in my opinion. If I was able to buy it back right now I would not hesitate. IMO, it is absolutely the finest 62 Bubbletop on the face of this earth !!! Best of Show at Chicago Vettefest scorring 997 out of 1000...several Gold Spinners too and it was invited to the Top Gun Showcase at Vettefest. They dinged the car for having dust on top of the frame rail !!! They used mirrors to find it. Judges said there are no perfect 1000 point cars so they had to find SOMETHING !!!! Hope you buy it. Its the nicest you will find anywhere.
Like I said, I will respond to everyone via PM/Email before the end of the day tomorrow...but meanwhile, the above info is all I have to add right now.
Thanks for the help, Bob!
