Here is the dash after complete vacuum chroming and partially painted with lots of masking involved. Once the black paint was applied and tacked over then it could be removed around the thin trim areas using a Q-tip and a light duty solvent. Do not use lacquer thinner. The chroming costs about $600, plus freight, plus labor to paint the black. All said and done just shy of about $1000 plus many sleepless nights while the dash is out of my eye sight. The people that chromed this for me do not do dashes on a regular basis as of right now but has agreed to do a few for me as a test.
When all said and done, there is VERY little difference in appearence of the chrome paint vs the vacuum chrome. The vacuum chromed dash when completed is just a little more expensive but the dash is never really out of my sight or control and that was worth a lot of $$$ to me just knowing where it was and that it was safe. Anyone who has tried to locate one of these dashes can appreciate that.
