Coming here to take land, hand-outs and to colonize is quite another.

They don't take any land, we sell it to them . (I think we took the land from Mexico, if memory serves.)

Some facts yes, but mostly out of context.
After mexican independence (from spain) in 1821, Mexico became a representative republic till approx. 1834. During this time mexican military leaders frequently revolted. One of these generals was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. This character was elected in 1833 but decided that becoming a dictator was a better deal for him. Americans and mexicans in what is essentially present day texas, revolted against this dictator. They whipped his ass and Texas became an independent country in 1836. Texas joined the United States in 1845, Mexico disputed Texas' autonomy and attacked the Texas border again in 1846. This led to the mexican-american war, which again, resulted in a total defeat for the Mexican DICTATOR Santa Anna in 1848. At this time the treaty of guadalupe hildago was signed, and CA. AZ. NV. NM. and parts of adjoining states were ceded to the U.S. for the sum of 15 million dollars (that's a couple of dragon snakes worth of $$ for you car-only folks). To sum it up, Mexico started not one, but two wars, lost them both, and got paid for their trouble after the second one. Their government has been since then, and will always be, a corrupt cesspool.
The notion that we have taken, or are taking anything but crap from Mexico, is completely false. BTW they have been violating our border sovereignty (at least in Texas) for nearly 40 years now, the only difference today, is they are achieving critical mass with the help of an idiot that I voted for.
And yes, I am a former Texan.
