[b] Back in the early sixties when NASCAR was still in its infancy there were no big promoters
except for the France family. The race results were not published in any of our local papers
and forget about television or radio coverage.
But it was different back then - if you wrote away to your favorite driver, or garage,
or even NASCAR - someone would almost always respond.
My Mom and I had a scrapbook, and we wrote away to everyone.
Hell, even
"THE BEST DAMN GARAGE IN TOWN" took the time to reply and gave us a new lead to boot!
