Default Re: Calling All Corvette Experts

Back in 1867 a Corvette customer spotted a 1967 427 coupe which was silver with a red interior. He liked the color combination and went to his local dealer to order a 350HP convertible (with a hardtop only!) in that color combination. The dealer accepted the order and all was well. However Chevrolet kicked the order back and said they could not build that color combination. The buyer noted the 'other' 427 that had been built in that color combination and wanted his Corvette in the same colors. There was much back and forth with Chevrolet and persistence paid off. The buyer got just the Corvette he wanted. The Corvette was delivered in the silver red combination previously refused. Lots of documentation to confirm that car as legit. It was offered at auction a while ago.
The latest find would indeed be a rare piece if the trim tag checks out. It would be interesting to compare the serial number for this car with the Silver/Red Corvette that is authentic and see which one was built first. The authentic car may have paved the way for others... like the Mosport Green 1967 yes 1967 not a typo!
