Default Re: What Hurst auto shifters were used back in the day

Hurst "Dual Gate" or "His and Hers" were an optional upgrade over a straight stick console shifter with the lockout button on the top on GTO's. 442's came with a column shifter, and the Hurst was only an optional upgrade like the GTO. Not sure if you could order it for a Tempest or Cutlass with a center console. Never available in Buick or Chevy cars. Yenko cars were dealer installed, converted from column shift, without the center console.
Chuck, JMO, but I would go with the column shifter. It just adds to the sleeper look of the car, and you can sneak it into 1 from D very discreatly.
