Default Re: Anyone have Colvin's "Corvette by the Numbers"?

This is as written in Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers with
a picture of the intake.

1967 (mid to late) Corvette L88 (unverified) 427/430
This intake is identical with #3885069 except for a few changes. The intake that is shown here is the only #3919851 intake that has ever been found or located and that makes it quite rare. The intake has a 9-30-67 casting date and has never been beadblasted or cleaned. It still carries the original carburetor studs and shows evidence that it was installed on a running engine sometime in the past. The throttle bore area is identical to the early #3885069 L88, along with an open, cast (not machine cut) center plenum, which insinuates that this intake was never designed for any other application other than the Corvette L88. The design of the front of the intake, with a drilled and tapped temperature sending unit boss on the right, indicates that the intake was used in the 1967 model year. All 1968 intakes should have an untapped temperature sending unit boss since the sending unit was moved to the cylinder head in 1968. While from all indications, this intake was used in a production car, it cannot be proven and thus the model usage above shall remain "unverified." If you have further info on any other #3919851 intakes, please contact the author at the address at the back of the book. This intake does not have an oil splash shield.

Sorry I couldn't scan this but hope this helps!
