Re: Tire help needed
A friend has some of the new BFG Silvertown redline radials on his '66 Chevelle, nice tire with a Radial T/A style tread. Coker sells them, perhaps others.
Agree with the no-go on Coker house brand redlines. The tread is clunky, the redline color on the last set I saw seemed off, and I've heard many quality control issues.
Good to hear about Diamondback. I've liked dealing with them in the past. I wonder if they could make a redline or whiteline tire with an early '67 Wide Oval style stripe, you know, big diameter out towards the tread. I still don't know why that isn't reproduced, since all the '67 literature shows cars with that style of stripe.
I like a 215/70/14 on a 6" wheel for midsize cars, to approximate an F70-14 look. 235/60's rarely look right to my eye. 205/70 is a small looking tire, I only use on '65/'66 Mustangs and early Novas, usually with 5" or 5.5" wide rims. I like 225/70/14's (when you can find them) on '68-72 GM A-body cars, especially those with 14x7" rims.
