Front sheet metal was painted on a buck that left about 2" spacing between the edges of the panels... the overspray on the edges of the front feders which were in the engine compartment was not complete from what I have seen...
Here are a few pics of an original paint car...





The rear end came assembled from the manufacturer and they were painted... there was a tube that was slid over the input yolk to keep paint off of the u-joint mount, and also the e-brake cables were covered to keep excessive overspray off of them.
