Just to clarify, this is not a US armed forces aircraft. Not sure which country, helo is a Puma and is flown by several NATO as well as other countries. Crash like that should never happen, daytime, huge field...easy stuff. They were extremely hot on the approach and someone should have called a go-around. Most likely hot dogging to show off to someone either on the ground or in the aircraft. Once they started spinning the only option is to drop the collective and likely crumple the gear due to side forces. I wouldn't want to be within a half mile of that thing when the rotor hits the ground, pieces and parts fly for a long way at a high rate of speed when this happens. At that point about the safest place to be is inside.
