Default Re: 70 Chevelle SS Questions

No problem Howard thanks for taking the time to clarify.
On the clone issue I think they have a place since you can customize them and drive them without worrying about harming the value of a genuine SS.
The problem comes when they are sold for top dollars to unsuspecting buyers as originals. In my mind the reproduction of cowl tags, build sheets, etc. has to be stopped as a starting point, with heavy fines associated with vin removal or reuse. In Canada we have the ability to get the GM documentation which helps but would not in my situation with the conv. What I am seeing in the last few years is chevelles seem to be falling out of the sky. For example in my small town we had one 70 ls-6 purchased. I knew the owner, drove the car and know exactly where it sits today. However now there are three being put together within 50 miles of me all were basket cases pulled over from the US side and of course matching ls-6. BS.
Some friends with original ss cars here are purchasing repo trim rings, hood pin cables, mirrors,ww mouldings etc. for driving and switching them back and forth for shows.
That is where we are which is sad but real and it will probally get worse once they repo the chevelle body which is not far off.
