Hi-Perf Cars Aug 69 has a nice feature on ZL1 #3 with several excellent photos. One of them is undercarriage shot of the axle & exhaust system, the only such photo I know of.

To compare:

The driveshaft is not original.

ZL1 #3 was built with a standard dual exhaust system with resonators; the chambered was added when Billy P owned it. In the photos there is not a wrinkle to be seen; all mandrel-bent. OE systems had the front pipes welded to the resonators, there are no clamps. The rear clamps are different and the threaded portion of the U bolt extends very slightly beyond each nut.

It also appears the rear axle flange is painted black. John Z has stated this area was masked when the axle was painted. By the way axles were painted with the brake drums installed; they should be black same as the axle. There are a number of vintage photos showing black drums. Cast blast is not correct.

The car looks outstanding and apperars to be an excellent restoration. Good luck with the sale!
