In college, one of my buddies set up a potato gun out of 2 sizes of PVC sewer pipe and a sparker from a gas grill. He found that Rave Extra Hold #5 hair spray was the best propellent, just had to clean the ignitor off after a couple of rounds!

We had the same problem Rave gummed it up... WD40 acted as a barrel lubricant. Awesome... used to shoot it off the roof of the Fraternity House at another's House across the street.
Cops finally came ... No Chrome braclets but they took the Spud Gun... probably to play with themselves!
