I honestly do not know small blocks but my understanding was that Tonawanda big blocks had many items installed when the engine was painted such as bellhousing, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, etc whereas the small block plants did not practice this. For that reason, I always thought the small block bellhousings would not have overspray.
